Peter “Chip” Coffey

Director of Clinical Services

Chip is a mental health professional in the state of AZ with over 35 years of experience. He has worked as a hospital director for nearly 20 years and worked in corrections prior to that.

Chip received his Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Marriage and Family Therapy from Ottawa University. He is a state Licensed Counselor as well as a Nationally Certified Counselor. Chip was a professor at University of Phoenix, teaching in several topic areas including diagnostics, group therapy, cultural competency, and theories. He also maintained a private practice for several years. As a supervisor he has worked with and had over 20 supervisees gain their independent licenses in AZ. He has also worked with interns from several universities. Chip served on the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners for over 6 years, was appointed to serve by two different governors. For two and a half years Chip served as the chairperson for the Board. Chip has intensively studied and trained in cognitive behavioral programs and is an ardent supporter of their use in multiple settings including Addiction and Mental Health. Additionally, Chip has certified through the Albert Ellis Institute in Rational Emotive Therapy and holds multiple certifications in several areas. Chip’s statement, “I am in the sunset of my career. I have had an incredible counseling career and trained with the masters. Now, it is my turn to pass on the knowledge to the next generation of therapists. My purpose now is to advance others in the field.”
