Co-Occurring Disorders

Understanding Co-Occurring Disorders in Mental Health

At Core Recovery, we recognize the complexity of mental health conditions and the prevalence of co-occurring disorders. Co-occurring disorders refer to the presence of one or more of a substance use disorder (SUD), a mental health disorder, and/or an eating disorder occurring simultaneously in an individual.

Co-Occurring Disorders in Core Recovery’s IOP/PHP Treatment Programs

In our Intensive Outpatient Programming (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programming (PHP), we take a comprehensive approach to treating co-occurring disorders. Our specialized programs address the interconnected nature of mental health and substance use issues by providing integrated treatment plans tailored to meet the unique needs of individuals dealing with these complexities.

Some facilities attempt to fit their patients into a box. Their philosophy may be that they treat mental health, and therefore they cannot treat a patient with a drug addiction or an eating disorder, or they treat eating disorders, and therefore they do not treat patients who also struggle with addiction. Core Recovery is different. At Core Recovery, we pride ourselves on our ability to meet patients where they are, and provide care that is centered on the patient’s experience and circumstance, rather than insisting that the patient adapt to a facility’s pre-existing framework for what their care ought to be.

Tailored Treatment Plans

Each individual’s experience with co-occuring disorders is unique, and our approach reflects this understanding. Our expert team conducts comprehensive assessments to create personalized treatment plans that may include:
