Sex Addiction, Love
Find Comfort & Understanding
We understand the embarrassment and sometimes even shame that can come with these addictions. You’ll find a warm, nonjudgmental, safe space to explore these issues facing you here at Core Recovery.
Are you uncertain about what you’re feeling? We can help you “check-in” with yourself and determine if you do have an addiction to love and/or sex, or are experiencing an unhealthy co-dependency. After all, everyone deserves to experience healthy love and relationships in their lives.
Sex addicts typically have strong feelings of shame about their sexual behavior and feel powerless to stop despite knowing there will be adverse consequences. They often are unable to commit to a loving relationship and have little emotional satisfaction from an actual sex act.
Love addicts tend to use their intensely stimulating romantic experiences to (temporarily) fix themselves and feel emotionally stable. Typically, love addicts are desperate to please and fear the other’s unhappiness. Love addicts also tend to choose partners who are emotionally absent and may be verbally or physically abusive.
Co-dependents often feel they must care for the other at all costs in order to be worthy of their love and attention. In some situations, the relationship can turn manipulative, where the co-dependent person feels they must control the other’s life in order to keep them safe.
Sex Addiction Help
Sex addiction is an obsession with sex that dominates one’s life, including sexual fantasies that can interfere with work performance or other areas of a person’s life. To treat sex addiction, we believe in addressing not only the problematic behaviors but also the root causes of the addiction in a caring atmosphere that will allow you to express your feelings comfortably.
Treatment takes trust with a competent therapist to work through these emotions. You’ll find that here at Core Recovery. We understand the emotional pain and personal shame sex addicts may experience. Our clinicians are highly sensitive and will treat clients with the utmost respect and consideration, providing the resources needed for ongoing support.
Love Addiction Help
Love addiction is the intense longing an addict feels for a person, relationship, or experience that will provide them with the emotional and life stability they lack. In most cases, love addiction is the result of unresolved relational trauma and can be extremely disruptive in an individual’s life and relationships. Using post-induction therapy coupled with other individualized treatment methods, Core Recovery clinicians facilitate the process of healing wounds from past trauma and learning how to have functional adult relationships.
It’s a process of self discovery. Treating this addiction will require acknowledging the addiction, realizing how it can be harmful, and following the steps to stop the addictive cycle from reoccurring.
Surprisingly, co-dependency is not an actual mental illness, but rather a developed response to dealing with someone with mental illness. We understand it’s difficult to ask for help. People struggling from co-dependency are accustomed to being needed, not the reverse.
The thought of ending a co-dependent relationship can be frightening, but it doesn’t have to be that way. In some instances, a co-dependent relationship can be altered without having to end. Improvement may require one or all of the people in the co-dependent relationship to get treatment.
The help that you seek is here at Core Recovery. Core Recovery has knowledgeable specialists who can provide the caring support and individualized treatment you need.
