Eating Disorder PHP

Core Recovery offers adult and adolescent partial hospitalization programs for eating disorders. Whether treating an adult or a teen, the goals of the program are the same—to provide integrated psychiatric, therapeutic, and nutritional care to promote sustained healing by simultaneously treating the acute eating disorder as well as the eating disorder’s underlying mental and behavioral triggers.

What is a Partial Hospitalization Program?

“Partial hospitalization program,” or “PHP,” is misleading term that often confuses patients and their families. Core Recovery is not a hospital, and its PHP program does not involve going to a hospital or staying overnight. PHP is the highest level of outpatient (i.e., non-residential) behavioral health care. While patients are attending Core Recovery’s PHP program, they live at home and—outside of attending the program Mondays through Friday—attend to their ordinary routines.

The Eating Disorder PHP Program

Core Recovery’s adult and adolescent eating disorder partial hospitalization programs treat individuals struggling with a range of eating disorders, including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), and orthorexia.

Core Recovery’s Eating Disorder PHP provides comprehensive, integrated care, Mondays through Fridays. Core Recovery’s clinical team includes therapists, psychiatric professionals, registered dietitians, and case managers, all of whom work collaboratively to meet the individualized needs of every patient.

Core Recovery’s Patient-Centered Treatment Philosophy

From the first day of treatment, the Core Recovery clinical team engages with every patient to learn about their background, history, challenges, and goals, and to develop a customized treatment plan that fits their unique circumstances and needs. As a Core Recovery patient, your individualized treatment plan will include a combination of group therapy, individual therapy, family therapy, creative expression therapy, diet and nutrition counseling, meal planning, supported meals, and psychiatric/medication management.

Evidence-Based Treatment Modalities

Core Recovery’s Eating Disorder PHP uses evidence-based modalities—with an emphasis on dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT)—to provide patients struggling with eating disorders a healthy and positive therapeutic experience.

Our Partnership In Your Recovery Journey

We know that life is busy, and everyone arrives at the decision to enter into an Addiction PHP program from a different life path. Some are stepping down from residential care or a detox program, whereas others may be entering into a PHP as a less disruptive and expensive alternative to residential care. In either case, patients have to decide whether to make a substantial investment of time and effort in their recovery.

At Core Recovery, although we cannot make that decision for our patients, we commit wholeheartedly that we will ensure that the energy our patients invest in their recovery is matched by our clinical and support staff, and that patients’ investment in themselves is rewarded by the transformation that they see in themselves, their relationships, and their quality of life.
