Intensive Outpatient Program
(IOP)

How Can Core Recovery's IOP Help Me?
Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, addiction, or trauma?
At Core Recovery, we provide an intensive outpatient program (IOP) that includes evidence-based treatment strategies to meet the individual needs of our patients.
Intensive outpatient programs are designed to address your addictions, anxiety, depression, or other issues which do not require detox or extensive supervision. This allows you to maintain your day-to-day life in a way that the average residential treatment program would not be able to while also giving you access to the professional treatment you need now.
Core’s IOP is focused on group therapy but includes being seen weekly for an individual and family systems session with a master’s level clinician.
Our specialized program provides intensive treatment for:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Other Psychological Disorders and Mental Health Struggles
- Stress
- Substance Use Problems
- Trauma
What to Expect From Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Core’s IOP requires patient participation in treatment for 9-19 hours per week and offers programs with flexible scheduling designed for adolescents (13-17 years old and adults (18+).
Core Recovery has master’s level therapists licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health. They provide a biopsychosocial assessment and utilize psychological diagnostic tools to identify mental health and substance abuse issues. After you complete an assessment, the clinicians create a treatment plan that uses evidence-based treatment strategies to meet each patient’s individual needs.
Core Recovery provides an Intensive Outpatient Program that uses dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), an integration of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness skills that help identify the relationship between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and their impact on all of life’s situations.
Intensive outpatient programs have a better success rate than normal outpatient approaches, thanks to the focused, therapeutic environment. Our IOP program balances the validation of an individual’s experience with developing skills to manage crises, regulate emotions, and enhance motivation to change.
The overall goals of our Arizona-based Intensive Outpatient Program include:
- Recognizing unhealthy behaviors
- Improving problem-solving abilities
- Teaching coping skills
- Practicing asking for and receiving support
- Developing enhanced self-awareness
Your treatment in IOP may include:
- Three-hour group therapy sessions, 3-4 times weekly.
- Individual and Family System Therapy
- Case Management
- Group Therapy
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Trauma Therapy (EMDR)

How to Know if IOP is Right for You
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to help those struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, or addictions with an integrative treatment approach.
IOP is a good treatment option for those that don’t quite need the level of care the partial hospitalization program provides but would benefit from multiple types of therapy each week.
Those in our integrative IOP program can learn about the triggers of their anxiety, depression, or addictions and healthy options for coping with and managing those triggers.
Patients receive group therapy, 1:1, and family sessions to help build stronger support relationships.
Our Intensive Outpatient Program offers:
- A biopsychosocial approach to strengthen neglected areas of a patient’s life
- Relaxation and visualization techniques
- Encouragement and support of positive beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and attitudes regarding change
- Learning to incorporate pro-social skills
