Support for Older Adults Suffering From Depression

COVID-19 is impacting us all, but senior adults are feeling the impacts most, resulting in depression, stress, and increased anxiety. Core Recovery is offering a pyscho-educational support group to help aging seniors deal with the challenges of aging during a global pandemic.

Isolated from their friends, families, community groups, and spiritual outlets, older adults are depressed, stressed, and anxious. And that’s not a normal part of aging. Our clinicians are here to help your feel better.

About the Program

Core Recovery’s newly developed support group for older adults uses psycho-education techniques and social interaction support to help aging seniors cope with isolation, fear, and other changes brought on by the normal aging process.

The program provides a safe place where older adults can socialize and discuss issues and feelings with other older adults.

While we recommend participants plan to attend for at least six to eight weeks, the program is open enrollment so you can start and leave as you wish.

Virtual Sessions Every Thursday

10 AM to 12 AM

The sessions will be held via Zoom and all that’s needed to attend is a smartphone, tablet, or computer and a desire to socialize in a learning environment.

  • Want to discuss their feelings in a non-judgmental and caring atmosphere focused on healing

Program Benefits

Based on the idea that thoughts and behaviors influence our feelings, this support group will help seniors:
  • Adjust the way they think and react to help them feel less anxious and stressed.
  • Handle the “new norm” facing their everyday lives.
  • Understand why they feel the way they do and that they are not alone.
  • Feel less isolated by giving them an outlet to socialize with others their age.

A Program Like No Other

This is no typical, off-the-shelf counseling program. Our new Senior Support Group was designed by Core Recovery experts to specifically address the challenges brought on by the current pandemic. Sessions are facilitated by a licensed therapist experienced in working with older adults and focus on ways to understand and cope with the challenges our aging community is experiencing today.

Your Healing is Our Mission

It is important to us at Core Recovery to identify and address the needs of our community. We recognize that older adults are more isolated due to the global pandemic. We want to provide a way for them to learn new skills to navigate these difficult times feeling less stressed and ultimately bring more happiness to their lives. They deserve this and much, much more.
